How to ensure success of your project in times of digital revolution? How to deal with uncertainties of changing market demands created by new technologies? On the 2nd of November the Risk Forum at DTU brought people interested in improving risk management together for actionable discussions in welcoming and engaging atmosphere.
At its 4th edition called ‘Risk powers Strategy, the Risk Forum and ‘Brightline initiative’ team sponsored by PMI shared their latest research on influence of strategy implementation and risk management on a project success. Based on interviews of 40 leading companies in various sectors, the results show that effective project risk management allows strategy projects to successfully manage uncertainty, and helps leadership teams deliver. On the other hand, failure to manage strategy implementation risks causes significant financial losses – directly and as opportunity costs.
In addition, the Forum invited several speakers from prominent companies to share their experience on implementation of risk management activities at different levels of the organization. Carsten Toft Boesen (CEO Niras), Graeme Keith (former head of strategy & enterprise risk management at Mærsk Oil), Claus Klint (Director IBM DK), Sune B. Krings (Senior Manager at PwC DK), and Poul Skadhede (Group CEO at Valcon) have shared their knowledge with other industry practitioners.
Moreover, the Risk Forum organized insight sessions on strategy implementation and risk management as well as exercises on mapping out strategy projects. Each discussion group was guided by the Forum representative in case of questions and clarification on the topic.
To summarize, the Forum and ‘Brightline Initiative’ team have done an enormous work to organize the event. Besides excellent and inspiring talks, the energy level of the participants was kept high with delicious meals in the Danish ‘Hygge’ style.
